What Exactly Is the Root Canal Treatment?

Root canal treatment is an endodontic practice which is performed when the blood or tooth pulp is infected through decay or any injury. In early stages of infection, you may not recognise and feel the pain but the infection soon starts to show its visible effects. Tooth may darken in colour which indicates that your tooth has come to death and you critically need a root canal treatment.

The infection from the infected tooth pulp spreads through root canal system of your teeth which ultimately reaches an abscess. Abscess causes inflammation with pus collected inside it. All this leads to swelling of tissues present around teeth. Thus, when you feel ache or tenderness of tooth as a result of infection, the very first thing you should do is visit your dentist and fix an appointment for root canal treatment. If this is not done at its earliest, it can reach the worst stage of infection and you might have to remove that tooth.

Most of people are afraid of pain during the root canal treatment. It pains but a little more than that during an ordinary tooth filling. After the treatment, you may come across some tenderness but it gradually gets less over time.

However, make sure you take proper care of your teeth after getting the root canal treatment done. Follow brushing your teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and try cutting down sugary foods such as drinks to their minimum. Keep your regular dental visits on.
